HistoryIt all began in 1949 in Salzburg – Austria was recovering from the war, the economy was recovering and markets were quickly reorganizing themselves. And people were ready to consume. Josef Gschwandtner’s strategy to market confectionery items at affordable prices perfectly matched this new spirit of optimism.
Among the first items were gum – which had become popular through Americans during the war, compressed candy rolls and lucky bags.
The product range has very much diversified since then – but the main focus has always been childrens’ confectionery. Brand names such as Bazooka, Fizzers and Tico Pop have been carried across decades and generations. After 60 years of distribution service to the Austrian market, J. Gschwandtner-Import GmbH is still the leading import distributor in children’s confectionery items. |
